Some advice for all you Management-types out there....

Do you manage people? Do you interview, hire, fire, etc? If so, let me give you some advice. If you take someone out of their day, force them to dress up, get them all nervous, and bring them in for an interview, you have certain obligations to that person. How many people do you interview for a single position? 5? 10 maybe at most?

Once you have made up your mind on who to hire, it is your ethical obligation to inform those you interviewed immediately that they are not being considered for the job. Sadly, most managers are so cowardly that the most common method of notifying someone they did not get a job is to completely ignore them at all costs. Not only do Managers not proactively notify the person, but they avoid their calls, ignore their emails, and generally just leave the poor people wandering "what-if" for days and weeks.

Managers that avoid this kind of confrontation are cowards, unethical, and do not deserve to be in the position they are in. If they cannot respect someone enough to give them a 60 second phone call, then they do not have what it takes to be a leader.

Do you really want to make someone completely and irrationally furious? It's really so simple. Just tell them that they bear the responsibility for where they are, right now, here, at this point in their lives.

My sermon yesterday on the great jobs debate really rubbed some folks the wrong way ... especially those who have lost jobs to overseas competition. The last thing they wanted to hear was that these jobs were not theirs ... that they belonged to the employer and that the employer could damn well do what he wanted with them. Yesterday's email offerings called me everything ... monster, idiot, f***ing moron, nazi, fascist .. you name it.

OK, whiners. Let's go to the bottom line here. So, you don't have a job. Well, guess what? MOST Americans do have jobs. Most Americans are working, earning a living, providing for their families, planning for the future, saving money, putting their children through college, and just generally living large. But you're not. Most Americans have jobs. You don't ... and you can't see that the problem here is YOU?

Stop whining ... stop demanding the government save you from your own decisions ... and stop blaming your situation on someone else ... including the president. Grow up, suck it up and get out there and fight. You own you, nobody else does. If you own you then you are responsible for you. Accept the responsibility and knock off the damned whining.

Boy ... I can hardly wait to see the email this afternoon.

When it comes to choosing between the lives of Humans, or the lives of birds, tree huggers choose birds. The US wants to build a fence to help slow the insane amount of illegal alients from Mexico, but California and the environmentalists fear it could danger some bird migrations. The US wants it to protect the lives of Border Agents, not to mention the rest of the Americans that are victims of crimes by immigrants. Ya know, its time that we speak up against these morons. Way too many illegals are breaking other laws, not to mention terrorist implications. Close that border.

Atkins studies....

I can sit and research Atkins all day long, but I dont need to. The American Heart Association is AGAINST the Atkins diet suggesting that it can lead to heart disease. They also question studies founded by Atkins-related parties that suggest Atkins is safe. Perhaps because of the obvious conflict of interest, but also because of horribly low sample sizes, and other problems. No one can dispute the American Heart Association is independent, does not stand to profit from the study, and shows that the Atkins diet is NOT safe. The AHA suggests you watch what you eat and excercise, (novel concept with the American fatties) and not change your diet according to Atkins. I will bore you with all of their numerous facts, but here is one that supports what I have been saying:

"If followed for a long time, they can result in potential health problems. And while they may result in quick weight loss, they have not been proven effective for long-term weight loss.

These diets can cause a quick drop in weight because eliminating carbohydrates causes a loss of body fluids. Lowering carbohydrate intake also prevents the body from completely burning fat. "

Still think that Atkins diet is smart?

I have said it all along. You eat less carbs, you slow your metabolism. Once it is slowed, you ALWAYS have to eat less and less carbs or else you will regain your lost weight immediately. No one listens to me, however. People liked that quick loss of pounds that lowering carbs does. Too bad when your metabolism equals out, you no longer lose any more weight...

Maybe now that the truth on Dr. Atkins is out, that fad will finally die. Good grief, lets hope so. If I see one more "Atkins friendly" product im gonna puke.

March is White-Male History Month!

Join us in whining and moaning and playing the victim! Hey, don't we all get a turn! I actually got turned down for a job three times now because I was not "a minority candidate". Not to mention EVERY job I apply for I STILL get asked my race! How many blacks have been told they cant get a job based on race since 1964? My guess is, not a whole lot. And the ones that did, are rich now! So join me in decrying the new racism - the hatred of whites, and especially, white males.

Let's take a look at a few major companies policies to discriminate against straight white men:

MTV... Telling young people what to do for 20 years....

Well, you can tell it is an election year, because MTV is back at their game of making sure that only the most left-wing crackpot gets elected. MTV uses the guise of "getting young people to vote" to hide their agenda of "getting only young people who watch MTV and are ticked that Bush is President" to vote. Their ads are clear:

"last election 18 million young people voted, and the election was only decided by 500,000 votes. Imagine what could have happened if 20 million voted."

Well, gee, maybe Gore could have actually won fairly and MTV would be so much happier right now. Don't be fooled by any appearance of objectivity. MTV has one goal in mind, and it is to totally change the socio-political ideology of America to fall in line with what MTV believes. This would mean that Gays are just like the rest of us and should be held on a pedestal, war is bad no matter what, sex is good and teenagers should be having as much of it as possible, and anyone who disagrees with MTV is "ignorant".

All of their shows make this apparent, and now, so does their "News". MTV is a cancer to the American Family. They are a snake. They are very sneaky with how they hook kids and subliminally feed them their political stew. Notice they hardly play videos anymore. That takes too much time away from their political aspirations.

Dump truck stupidity....

Sign seen on back of gravel-carrying dump truck:

So let me get this straight. If I am following you, and your truck is full of gravel, and you are leaking gravel onto the road at 60 mph, and it just so happens a stone hits my windshield, somehow that isn't your fault because the gravel struck ground before hopping onto my glass? Nice try. The really sad part is, most truck driver types probably actually believe this to be true, and if someone's windshield got broke because of a leaky dump truck and tried to flag down the driver, the driver would probably just ignore him thinking he really, truly is not responsible. I have news for you, if debris comes off of your vehicle and causes injury or damage, you are 100% unequivocally responsible.

I'm going to put a sign on my car, "if the ladder I have tied to my roof with twine happens to fly off at 60 mph, strike and kill the motorcyclist behind me, I am not responsible." Then, when it happens and the cops are chasing me, Ill just yell out my window, "Hey pig! Read the sign! Not responsible!!"

February is Black History Month. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize one of the most important leaders of all time that preserved the way of life for Blacks in America. It just so happens he was a rich, white, Republican - Abraham Lincoln. At a time when the Democrats were pro-slavery, thanks to Abe and tens of thousands of dead white Americans, slavery is dead.

If it wasnt for Abe, there wouldnt be any Blacks left in America to have any history.

OK, it is official. If you think Janet Jackson's boob show during the Super Bowl was accidental, you are a moron. I have seen the replay video. Justin clearly reaches over to the fabric covering her boob, and yanks. Now why on earth would he do that?

Even if CBS and MTV didn't know about it (which is bull. MTV are the kings of this type of shock), Justin and Janet certainly knew what they were doing. All the surprised looks on their faces... hello... these are ENTERTAINERS. They know how to act surprised. This was a planned (carefully planned based on Janet's strategically placed nipple art) PR stunt to drum up some more publicity for a Jackson that does not involve parental abuse, plastic surgery. or child molestation.

Media Hog...Part 3

First Britney gets married and steals the limelight from Paris Hilton and Bennifer. Then J. Lo dumps Ben and steals the spotlight right back. Now Janet Jackson, who coincidently is releasing a new album soon, exposes her right breast during the most watched event of the year. This is disgusting and ridiculous. What will the next person have to do to top her? Bare their gentials at the Grammy's next week? I was one of the thousands of people watching in shock what we assumed was just a concert between the football game of the winter. Not an R rated peep show of a woman I wouldn't want to see topless in a million years (not that I want to see any women topless). Ugh...I'm off to scrub my eyes with a Brillo pad.

In happier news, did everyone notice former OSU Buckeye and Pittsburgh Steeler Mike Vrabel's awesome plays of the night that led to New England's victory? WOHOO! GO VRABEL! That almost made up for Ms. Jackson's boob show.

I'm off to pack for a week in Indy for a convention. Hopefully some of the 3 ft of snow we have will melt so I can actually get into my trunk.

Suck-er Bowl...

It isnt even half-time yet during the Super Bowl and I have already given up on it to come Blog. This has to be the most boring Super Bowl ever. Not only does the game blow, but the commercials SUCK. These are the worst, most uncreative, lame Super Bowl commercials of all time. I knew the game would be lame, but I at least tuned in for some good commercials. Well, no such luck this year. None of them have been very memorable. What happened to creativity? It seems half of the commercials are just ads for CBS shows. I just saw four back-to-back CBS ads. Perhaps the Super Bowl is not the big draw it used to be? Is anyone else bored to tears with this whole bonanza?

And another thing, no more "memorials" or "rememberences" at football games. Beer-swilling, wing-eating football fans don't care. Regardless, these displays are completely cheesy and totally insincere. I cant believed CBS dragged NASAs new astronauts onto the field for some cheesy serenade to "remember" the crew of the Discovery which crashed a year ago today. I just wasnt buying it. And by the looks of the people with their Bud Light bottles permanently affixed to their lips throughout the entire charade, no one else was either.

I have to say Beyonce's National Anthem was probably my favorite ever. I give her props for a job well done. But what was with the "fly-by" of Military choppers afterwards? Did the organizers forget the game is being played in a dome?

Man, I don't even want to know how bad half time will be. I mean, Janet Jackson?! Are you KIDDING me?! Has she even release a single song this millenium?! Talk about outdated. Speaking of outdated, AOL is sponsoring the half-time show. How fitting.

Legal Disclaimer Craziness...

We live in a lawyer society. And nothing is more insane than all of these legal disclaimers I see on everything. My personal favorites are the completely idiotic disclaimers that are completely irrelevant. Case in point. I was pulling into a parking garage here in Atlanta and as I was getting my ticket I noticed the following sign:

"By entering these premises you agree that X Parking Company accepts no liability for any damage to your car, loss or theft including damage that may be our fault. You also understand that we accept no liability for any personal injury due to falling debris or any other cause. Any injury, damage or loss is not the responsibility or liability of X Parking Company and we cannot be held liable."

OK, that was just insane. If I walk in a parking garage and a hunk of the ceiling falls on my head and breaks my neck, no disclaimer on earth is going to save them. Companies really think that people are idiots (and most are) and when the garage collapses on top of their car they will just resign to thinking, "well, the sign says it isn't their fault."

And at the gas station, another sign that says "we are not responsible for the performance of your vehicle when using our gas. We accept no responsibility for any vehicle damage when using our product." Nice try. If Im filling it up with Unleaded and your morons put Diesel in the tank by mistake, you ARE liable. No ifs and or butts about it.

And at the Amusement Park...

"By entering these premises you agree that X Amusement Company is not liable for any injuries or death that may occur in our park. You agree to enter and use our facilities at your own risk. We are not responsible for any injuries or death that occur whether or not caused by our own negligence."

Again, nice try, but totally wrong.

Im going to wear a sign around my neck, and print another copy and put it on my car. It will read as follows:

"The individual wearing this sign is not liable for any damage or injury to you, your property, or anyone you care about. Any vehicle collisions are your own responsibility and I will not be held responsible. Also, I will not be liable for shooting you if you upset me or get in my way. Be reading this sign you agree to the above and have entered into a legally binding agreement."

Does everything really need to be "scented"...

Ok. America has gone crazy with the whole "scented" insanity. Ya know, it wasn't that long ago that candles smelled like wax, now everywhere you go people's houses are saturated with 138 different scents. The candle thing I can understand, but certain things are just taking it too far. Case in point, with this cold weather the ants have been moving into my apartment, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and invest in a can of Raid. Not just any Raid, however, but Country Fresh Raid. Thats right, Country Fresh. Now, I used to live in the country, and I never remember it smelling like ant poison, but hey, thats what the Marketing folks at Raid must think it smells like. Maybe Im nuts, but do we really need to encourage people to start spraying Raid for its clean scent? I don't think using Raid as an air freshener is a really wise idea. The whole can is littered with warnings about inhaling the contents, spraying around food, spraying near pets, kids, etc. So why was making it smell good such a high priority?!?!

So my bathroom smells like Mango Mandarin, my kitchen smells like Country Apple, my bedroom smells like Cinnamon Stick, and my whole house has an overtone of ant poison, er, I mean, Country Fresh Raid. But hey, at least my clothes smell like they "have been dried in the sunshine". Apparently the good people at Proctor and Gamble things the sunshine smells like heavily perfumed Tide.

Some people just have no conscience. I mean, a dirty bomb detector?! Are you kidding me?!
First of all, youd have to be sitting on top of the bomb for that to work, and if thats the case, you have other things to worry about. $159.... lets see, thats about $158.50 in profit. Oh and I love the bomb diagram on their site, the how-to of a dirty bomb. "Well you just use a pipe with a low order explosive, fuse and a radioactive isotope and here is what it should look like"

And make sure you pay careful attention to the instructions "two short beeps is fatal" well then would you hear it? And what exactly do you do at that point? "Well, Im gonna die now"

It is only a matter of time before I see some paranoid soccer moms wearing that thing around, or better yet, forcing their kids to wear it. "Now Johnny, if you hear two short beeps, umm, get under the desk". I mean what problem is this thing supposed to solve exactly? "Oh, there is radiation in the air! I better put on my containment suit." I mean what good is the $150 thing without a 20 grand suit?

I guess this is more proof that some people are so a) paranoid and b) stupid that you can literally sell them anything. Anyone that buys this needs to have their head examined. I see marital difficulties a definite for the people that actually buy this thing. I can just see a husband asking his wife why on earth she spent $160 on a Dirty Bomb Detector and her feeble attempts to explain how she is trying to protect her family.

"See honey, now if there are fatal levels of radioactive isotopes in the air, this thing will beep and tell us we are about to die so that we may put on our funeral clothes and pass on gracefully."

Here is a better idea. Spend that money on weed and when CNN comes on telling you a dirty bomb has just been detonated in your town and you are about to die a painful, skin boiling death, you can get all stoned and not even know whats happening to you.

Laid...

As in, Laid Off. That was my fate today. It seems yet again I made the mistake of going to work for a very small company with zero corporate direction. A common trait in smaller companies - great product and the most incompetent management on Earth. Net result: my entire department done away with two months after I start, management doesn't know what to do with me so they just ignore me for four more months, then when that wears out, lay me off. Yea Id say that pretty much sums it up. Way to go, team!

Ya know, I have come to determine there are three types of companies out there - small, medium, and large. Real breakthrough, I know. But there is more to this story....

The very small company usually has a great niche but no direction, no goal, and no idea how to get there. And they are going nowhere fast. The product sells itself, and thats good, because the goons in Marketing are much more into The OC than Market Segementation.

The very big companies these days have no real niche, but rather a hodge podge of strategies and products. One only has to look at their local phone company to see an example of a billion dollar giant that has no clue what it really does anymore. I mean here in Atlanta, Bellsouth is hiring a "Assistant Manager, Forecast". Thats right, a Manager to just sit there and Forecast. So then sales must not do it anymore, right? Wrong. Everyone else still forecasts, now there is just another layer of management to manage the forecasts.

These mega companies have too many directions to get any clear path. The only goal is shareholder value, and they have so many layers of management fat that wouldn't know a good idea or a good employee if it bit them on the nose. Net result: total stagnation, zero innovation, and declining business. When can you think of the last time AT&T came out with a really killer new innovation? Drawing a blank? So am I. Yet AT&T used to be one of the greatest technology innovators on earth. My how times change.

Finally, there are a few of those mid-size companies that 'get it'. Still have a good product, still know how to sell it, and still have not completely given in to total micro management. Ah that third category is a rare gem. If you find it, hang on to it. Don't be confused, not all mid size companies are like this. In fact, very few are. Most are either stuck in the small company mindset and have incompetent management, or think they are bigger than they are and get bogged down in processes and multiple management layers.

So I am back on the quest of that rare middle breed. Now I just have to find someone in a Management position that isn't afraid of hiring someone that is perhaps more educated or even more intelligent than they are. Hahahahaha.... Wish me luck.

Is it any surprise Dean came in a dissapointing third place in Iowa? Smart Democrats (there are a few) know that Dean just cant beat Bush. Only a war supporting Dem has a prayer of beating Bush. Stumpin' for the Southern Democrats...

Dean stopped by Georgia today to meet with (gag) Jimmy Carter. I mean, I can understand why Dean wants to come to Georgia to desperately try to get support with election-swinging Southern Democrats - a group he will be very hard to win over. Southern Democrats are your NASCAR watching, war supporting, Harley riding, middle-class, blue collar crowd. Dean's tree hugging liberal mantra really doesn't get their hearts all a flutter. So today, he shows up here in Georgia in what looks like a desperate attempt to get their support. That part I get. Now, what I do not understand at all is that he does it right in the middle of the Iowa caucus - something that he is rapidly losing support in. So why on earth does he leave Iowa when thats the only place that really matters right now? Wierd. Maybe its because the powers that be in the Democratic party have convinced him that he CANNOT beat George Bush. For two reasons. Reason one, the Southern Democrats as mentioned above. Reason two, and the REAL reason: a Dean (or any Democrat) win in '04 means no Hillary for President in '08. Therefore, I think the Democrats REALLY want Dean to get the nomination and actually THROW THE ELECTION this year to get closer to their Socialist goals with Hillary for President in '08. Plan on seeing some Clinton support for Dean, but not too much support. God forbid a Democrat actually win this election. Think we might see Hillary stumpin for Bush? Hmmmm....

I'm Sorry too...

Have you heard the new Reuben Studdard song? It is called 'Im Sorry 2004'. I just caught the video for it on some American Idol promo show. So the jist of this song is that Reuben is sorry for something he did a while ago to his woman, so he keep saying just how sorry he is, over, and over and over and over....

Well, after seeing the video, I can see just why he is so sorry. Of course, the woman in the video is beautiful. A very beautiful black woman. Office Supplies......
One of my favorite things to do in corporate America is to raid the office supply cabinet. I'm tellin’ ya, there isn't anything more fun than stocking up on post-it-notes, highlighters, and pens. It brings a wee tear to my eye to see that plastic shimmering under the mind-throbbing din of the fluorescent lighting.

However, one caveat at my current job that otherwise obscures the joy I derive from raiding the cabinet; we aren't “allowed” to have a pen without the company's name on it. You know, if I want to spend that extra $.50 for my Vision Uni-ball waterproof/fadeproof fine pen in black, blue, and red, then damnit, leave me alone, you're stepping on what has become a religious experience for me!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Man its been a while! I have been taking a vacation from all of my responsibilities; work, the Blog, bathing, brushing my teethe, etc.... So now I am en unemployed, smelly, hairy, toothless fool! Well, not really....

Well so much has happened recently, where do I even begin? Todays Blog will be a hodge podge of my random thoughts - so enjoy!

First, let me apologize for my extended absence. Second, how bout that Howard Dean, eh? I am really rooting for him! If he gets the Democratic nomination, Bush is sure to win in 04. Watch for the Democratic National Committee to start some behind the scenes work to make him lose. They arent dumb. They know if a Democrat is going to be President, it is NOT going to be Dean. It has to be Kerry or Clark. How do you think that old Video of Dean got released? I can assure you it is NOT the Republicans. We know we have to run against someone, and we pray its Dean. Now the real question is, who will be running with Bush as VP? My bet is, it wont be Cheney again, any takers?

Next, why is Bush going easy on Immigrants? Does he really think tax-dodging, entitlement-abusing, law-breaking, immigrants are going to vote Republican? It just aint gonna happen. Also, Bush is becoming WAY too spend-crazy. I thought it was the Democrats who were big government? Bush needs to be careful or he is going to upset his core base. But we arent going to vote for anyone else, so I guess it doesnt matter....

My birthday is in a week. 26. Gag. I am getting way too old way too fast. Remember when you were a kid and you talked to your friends about when you were going to get married and have kids and you had it all figured out? Well when I was a kid, I was supposed to be married and working on my first kid by now. I got some catching up to do.

Get a new job. Did you miss that? GET A NEW JOB!!!!! One more time, GET A NEW JOB!!!! Listen, the economy is growing, companies are hiring a LOT right now, and it has been a while since an economy-killing terrorist attack. There are a lot of things that can happen that will tank the economy again, so I suggest not sitting back. If you are considering a job change, do it and do it now. First quarter is always the best time to get a job, so get cracking! You will thank me!

Have you been watching The Apprentice? It is the new "reality" show with Donald Trump. I must say it is great watching women whore themselves out to move ahead in business. Let me rephrase that. Its great to see it happen on TV. I see it happen in the real world every single day. At least now maybe people will realize how some women are able to be as successful as they are. I have said it before and I will say it again. If you are a young, beautiful female, and willing to sacrifice your integrity for success, you will never be wanting. Last week on The Apprentice was a perfect example. The girls made 4 times what the guys did selling lemonade. Why? Because they charged 5 times as much and kissed the guys that bought it. Gee, go figure. They should have took their tops off. Then they would have made even more. But hey, that was only the first episode.... Tune in Wednesday (I think) night on NBC for the ongoing saga. I think everyone should watch this show to see just how low people will go, and how quickly they will trash their morals and integrity, for money and success. Just like in real life. I guess this is a "reality" show after all. Shameful.

Any contradictions here???

I was just reviewing the employment secion of a company's website. The following two statements appeared exactly as you see them, in the same order. Read them and tell me if you see any contradictions:

It is our policy to base employment decisions on the principles of equal opportunity. This policy includes:
• Recruiting, employing, training, compensating, and promoting without regard to race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran’s status, or disabilities.
• Undertaking, through affirmative efforts, to improve employment opportunities for minorities, women, people with disabilities, and veterans.

So let me get this straight. You recruit, employ, train, promote etc, "without regard to race, gender, veteran's status or disability". BUT, you "improve employment opportunities for minorities, women, people with disabilities and veterans"

So, please tell me, how is improving employment opportunities for people based upon a group they are in the same as employing people without regard to what group they are in?

Am I the only one that sees just how stupid these people are?! I mean they say one thing, then say something completely contradictory in the very next line! And the best part of this is, you will more than likely find this same circumstance on virtually any company's website outlining employment practices.... It doesn't take a Republican to see that these two statements are contradictory. Sad.

Things that are wore out, tired, dead, and generally not cool...

Well, its that time of year. Time to give and receive gifts. So, being the nice guy I am, I am compiling a list of products that are tired, wore out, played out, and just in general, no longer cool. Here we go:

1. North Face - Used to be a great product for ultimate hikers, backpackers, mountain climbers, and other outdoorsy folk. Was of the highest quality and highly respected. Now has become the outerwear du jour of every frat boy and co-ed in North America. Brand was sold to Vanity Fair. Thats right - Vanity Fair, the bra company. Quality tanked. Quickly lost all respect in true outdoorsman circles and exposes any who wear it for what they are - posers.

2. Burberry plaid - You should know this is dead. Every insipid Manhattan debutante has had their stupid plaid scarf and bucket hat since 2001. Now everyone with an extra Ben Franklin lying around is rushing out to buy the only two Burberry items they can afford - scarf or hat. If you are caught with either of these, you are saying "Hi, I don't have any money, but I sure look like I do!" Ditto for the plaid purse. True fashionistas wear Burberry MINUS the plaid.

3. Louis Vuitton - If you have a full price LV anything, you are a moron. Just like Burberry, the good knock offs of LV (NOT the ones at the mall kiosks) have flooded the market and are now of such high quality that no one can even tell the difference. Cost of flawless fake - $50. That's about one-tenth of the real thing. Louis Vuitton purses say you are either major ghetto, or gold digger extraordinare.

4. Banana Republic (mens, anyway) - They are hocking the exact same black pants and blue button-up shirt now that they were in 1995. This store has not changed their look since the FIRST Bush administration. This is the standard clothier of twenty and thirty something men that are single, live alone, and read GQ yet don't take any of the advice they read.

5. Kenneth Cole - Hey Guys. You are wearing the same black Kenneth Cole Shoes with your black pants and blue button-up Banana Republic shirt as every other guy you have worked with since college. You paid a hundred bucks for those plastic Skechers with a different brand name?

6. Trucker Caps - Old. Dead. WAYYYY too played out. Hillary Duff is wearing them. Do you want to be like Hillary Duff? 'Nuff said.

7. Abercrombie - Sorry, but the day you leave college you are absolutely forbidden from shopping at this store ever again. Abercrombie is the look for the guys and girls that are long out of college, but still livin the dream. They can be seen every Thursday night at "da club" gettin drunk and almost getting fired the next day because its the 4th Friday in a row they called in sick (hung over).

8. Your 1993 BMW 3-series - Another tool of the paycheck-to-paycheck crowd that live with three other people and bought the cheapest marquis brand car they could(not) afford so that when the question comes up they can respond, "I drive a BMW." Oooooo... Aaaaaaa...

9. The Goth Thing - Trying to stand out by looking, acting, and dressing like everyone else is pretty lame. Your average Goth kid is the soulchild of the average Hippie kid in the 70s. Upper middle class parents that have their own agendas. Starved for attention. Act as radical as possible to get looks from the people that remind them of their parents. Apparently the disaprovement and humiliation at home isn't enough, now they need it in public too. These are the folks that watch MTV ad nauseum but call everyone they see on that channel "preps" and "conformists". Convinced that Good Charlotte is a real band.

Hurray! More Free Money for Minorities....

President Bush just signed a bill to help low-income minorities with home ownership. Under this program, the Federal government will help them with down payments and closing costs.

I must say, Bush's rampant government spending is upsetting me. I am tired of the big government. And do we REALLY need to give money based on skin color? I mean is a Republican really doing this? This is a $200 million HANDOUT. Taking money from me, giving it to someone else. Its welfare and I cant believe Bush is doing it. This is a $200 million vote buying scheme. Period. Im dissapointed.

And, of course, no mention of this from the NAACP. C'mon! You just got $200 Mil for FREE and you cannot even mention it?! I thought you were for the "Advancement of Colored People" Thats what your name stands for. But of course, you will be six feet under before you recognize anything positive a Republican does for minorities.

Phoenix public schools are implementing new facial scanning technology to try and stop sex offenders from coming on campus. The Arizona ACLU wants to stop this program. Leave it to the ACLU to have a problem with stopping sex offenders. Here is a quote from the story.

Judicial Problems...

I am a full-on supporter of the idea that any and all criminal court cases be completely sealed until verdict. NO mention of suspect names. NO mention of evidence. NO mention of anything relating to the case. Do you REALLY think that Scott Peterson or Alfonso Rodriguez have any prayer at a fair trial anywhere at all in this country? There is no way. You may find one or two jurors that live under rocks, but not 12. Everyone has established an opinion on these cases BEFORE they have even gone to trial! You know you have! And the notion that jurors can just brush off their beliefs is absurd. That is like asking a KKK member to sit on the jury of a black criminal and asking him to just ignore his racism for the trial. Do you really think that is going to happen? If I am the judge, I am letting Scott and Alfonso go. Thats right, let them go. Scot free. Go home. Do I think they are guilty? Absolutely. That is my whole point. I think they are guilty and all I know is what I have heard on the news.

Poop...

The sewer problems are getting so bad in Atlanta, parts of the city literally have poop running down the street. Fortunately, this is almost entirely to restricted to the parts of town where this is not too abnormal of an occurrence.

On that note. This is the perfect example of what happens in the Southern states where the politicians are especially corrupt. Lemme tell ya, Georgia and Louisiana are on a whole new level of corruption you cannot even comprehend if you are from anywhere else. Atlanta's former mayors were so covered in dirty money they make the Kennedy's look clean.

So after 15 years of taking sewer money and squandering it to further their own corruption, we now have no sewer, no money to fix it, and the Feds are threatening to literally ban all building in the entire city of Atlanta if we don't fix it. Seems the bed wetters which comprise this city's government (it shouldn't surprise you they are all leftist democrats) don't want to blame their own party for decades of idiocy, so they are asking Bush to come bail them out... Good luck.

Well, when it is all said and done, I know what will happen: North Fulton County (predominantly white, predominantly upper middle class) will end up footing the bill while South Fulton County (predominantly minority, predominantly lower class) will get off pretty much scot free. We have seen it with property tax, we have seen it with public transportation, we have seen it with sales tax, and on and on it goes. A few years back North Fulton County wasn't even a part of Fulton County at all. That's right, it was a totally seperate county. Turns out Fulton County was such a money losing slum hole the only chance they had of survival was to gobble up a rich county so the folks that live there can foot the bill for Fulton. So thats exactly what they did. Now 2% of the 7% sales tax we have here pays for MARTA. Thats right on a 7% tax, 2% pays for crappy public transportation that no one uses and that loses $500 million a year. Poop.

Sister Souljah is famous for advocating, after the Los Angeles race riots several years ago, "war" against white people, including a special week set aside each year to kill white people. Zero Tolerance Idiocy...

This story comes out of Louisiana. It seems a sophomore girl at the Parkway High School in Bossier Parish took one Advil to school in her purse. The Advil was discovered following a search of all students after a report of a student (gasp) smoking. This girl was immediately suspended for a year... thats right, a whole year, because of the school's zero tolerance policy.

The school's superintendent, Ken Kruithof, says the suspension is in-line with his school's Zero Tolerance policy.

And people wonder why our public schools in this country are completely fudged? Why is it that common sense, rational, and actually putting thought into decisions is such a rarity anymore. Its because thats not what the Teachers Unions want. Teachers Unions want to come in, read like trained monkeys from their pre-approved materials, give multiple choice tests, and go home. The goal is to get through the day with as little work and independent thinking as possible.

This is just another example of the absurdity of zero tolerance policies. Poor girl has a headache or cramps and gets kicked out of school. Great.

I am starting to have faith in Teenagers again....

Ya know, at 25 years old - I feel OLD. And then I read Reality Check. A teenager that quotes Ayn Rand?! A teenager that actually admits that the Grammys are fixed because they only seem to nominate cookie-cutter pop kings and queens that can draw ratings instead of true artists.... Wow was I impressed! If more teens were able to read and undersand Ayn Rand, and think and act for themselves, and become leaders like this girl, I would have more faith in our future.

In 90% of all "rape" cases, alcohol is involved, according to a recent study. (ABC news).

Gee, does that make you wonder that maybe girls get drunk, have sex, feel guilty, and then call it rape? Do you think that EVER happens? And don't you think that if 90% of the time the girls are drinking, perhaps the guys are drinking too? And if both parties are drinking, who is raping who? I mean, when no one is saying no, is it really rape??? I think all too often the term rape is a scapegoat for girls who do something they regret. Just watched a story of a 14 yr old girl who went to a party, drank, and had sex for the first time with TWO guys. She denied it was rape for several days until, gasp, people started looking at what she did negatively. Then, all of a sudden, she said it was rape.... And then she took the very unusual step of going to the national media to, in her words "tell girls its ok to get the guys in trouble if they get drunk and they take advantage of them"

Wow. Great message to send to 14 yr old girls! "Hey girls - go get drunk if you want! And if anything happens, just call it rape! I did and it worked for me!"

Obviously if a girl says no, wow its rape. If she is in anyway unconscious, of course its rape. But just because two drunk people have sex that doesn't automatically mean its rape.

Have you seen the list of Grammy nominees this year? 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, etc.... Basically the list is full of top selling CDs. These albums are not particularly artistic in any way shape or form. The Grammy Nominations now seem to be based solely on popularity, which is ok, but then label the show as an Entertainment show and not an Awards show. I mean 50 Cent?!?! Give me a break! The Washington Post has now, after what surely must have been an intensive investigation discovered that that particular turkey was a decoration, not a turkey destined for consumption. We're told that a contractor roasted that turkey and adorned it with grapes and greenery as a decoration for the banquet table. The Post is now telling us that picking up a turkey that was not actually meant to be eaten has "opened new credibility questions for (the) White House. White House officials are now having to explain that Bush didn't actually know that this particular turkey was a decoration."

How desperate can you get? Bush picks up an ornamental turkey and the Washington Post seizes on this as an example of White House credibility problems?

Today is Global AIDS Day.

Do we have a Global Cancer Day? Or Global Heart Disease Day? If we do I have never heard about it. I have looked and looked and looked for a statistic that compares the AIDS infection rate of sexual activity and drug use, to those who get it as no fault of their own. If I had to guess, and believe me this is just a guess, the vast majority of people are getting infected from the former. Basically I am trying to decide just how much I care. I mean, if only those people out banging anything that walks and then shooting up afterwards are getting infected, then gee, Survival of the Fittest man. Do you believe in Evolution? If so then AIDS is the greatest thing to happen to Evolution since the Big Bang. So, do you support Evolution or Human Rights? And if we cure AIDS we know there will be much much more unprotected sex, which would lead to more abortions. So do we want to save sexually promiscuous people so that they can kill their unborn babies? Sure a cure for AIDS looks great on the surface, but what is the result? More shared needles? More drug use? More unprotected sex? (Which would certainly result in more unwanted pregnancies). Consequences are a necessity for responsibility. There are tough questions you need to consider before just blankly supporting a cure for AIDS.

Make love, not war!

I hate war. I don't think it's necessary for the United States to butt it's nose into everyone else's business. It seems like a country can't have a civil war without the US joining, getting a bunch of our citizens killed and then helping set up a new government just like ours. I think we have a decent government running here - but is there any reason we have to make every other country run the same way? No wonder the citizens of these other countries hate us! Every time I turn on the news I see new reports of young men who have died that day in Iraq and of families missing their relatives who are miles away fighting on lands they have no emotional ties to. I'm sick of it. 9/11 was an awful, horrible day. I saw all the events happen live on TV as many others did and I still get sick to my stomach thinking about it. But why do we have to waste so many other lives to get revenge? Look back at the past 100 years and the wars our country has been involved in. They weren't our battles to fight and yet we joined it and lost so many of our men. My grandfather can't watch a war movie to this day because of what he saw while in WWII. Why must we keep scaring generations of our citizens with this brutality of war? We have enough problems of our own here in our own cities, we don't need to go police the rest of the world. My final thought is: United States - please stop acting like a big brother to everyone else. We could use this money and man power to help so many poor people here.

Women make less money than men. Yea, they should.

Now you must think I am CRAZY! Here are the facts from a (Democratic Sponsored) study into women's earnings. The study shows that women earn 20% less than men in the same field of work. The reason based on the report - because women take substantially more time off of work for family needs. So isn't it fair, then, that if someone works less that they are paid less? Don't know, just asking.

An interesting finding of the study sponsored by Jon Dangle (D) - Michigan, is that woman with children make 2.5% less than women with children. That isn't the strange part. The strange part is that men with children actually make 2% more than men without children. The congressman is all stupified and confused and said that the GAO (General Accounting Office) will spend millions more of your tax dollars trying to figure out why men with kids make more money than men without.

Here Congressman, let me solve the problem for you. In fact, Ill solve all of them relating to this study. Companies want employees with stability. Stability is a key factor in hiring and promoting employees. This is why they run background checks, CREDIT checks, etc. Why do you think they do this? They demand commitment and stability. Women are less-stable employees because if a man and woman have a child, the woman is 10x more likely to quit to raise the child than the man - which is why women are less committed to the job and less stable, therefore less valuable and lower paid.

The result of the many women that have children and quit? The man is the only bread earner for his family and suddenly needs his job. A man who needs his job is more committed and more stable, and therefore more valuable to an employer than a man that doesn't - which is why men with kids earn more, and women earn less.

Some people really are stupid...

Remember right before Bush was elected how the economy started taking a serious nose dive? Remember how every Democrat and liberal on earth blamed Bush for the bad economy despite proof after proof that it actually started towards the end of the Clinton presidency? Everyone immediately jumped all over Bush and he became "the President of the bad economy". Surveys less than one year after 9-11 showed their biggest beef with Bush was not national security, but rather the economy.

So now the economy is rebounding. Revised GDP shows 8.2% growth last quarter, highest in almost 20 years. Yes, that means the economy grew faster last quarter than it ever did during the big 90s boom...

But what do liberals and democrats think? Since Bush was to blame for the bad economy, is he to credit for the rebound? Well of course not! Liberal-leaning CNN's poll shows 55% don't think Bush was responsible for the rebound.

Of course he wasn't. Blame Bush for all the bad, take credit for all the good. That is the Democratic stance. Period.

Are you bloody kidding me? So a public school in Maryland that requires non-conformist behavior has suspended a girl that kissed another girl at lunch after yelling "End homophobia now". What hypocrits! First off, since when do schools require non-conformist behavior? Second of all, if you do, don't suspend the kids that actually do what you require! What hypocrits! Who needs to advertise when every news channel in the country uses your event to flash some skin up on their channel during every single news break. Even Fox News keeps running the teaser:

So Illegal aliens are suing Wal Mart under the RICO racketeering Law. They are saying that Wal-Mart knew its floor cleaners were illegally hiring these illegal cursed Day Laborers (Illegal Immigrants that voluntarily work for a very low wage and their employers withhold no payroll taxes, no social security, no workman's comp, nothing. So the rest of us get to pay for them). Are you catching the common theme here? ILLEGAL!!! And let's not forget, this is NOT slave labor here. No once is forcing these illegals to take these jobs. In fact, they beg for them. They stand in parking lots for hours hoping someone will come pick them up and hire them illegally. They are just as anxious as can be to continue their illegal lifestyles. But now they want to sue Wal Mart for the money that a citizen would make. Can you say, "Want your cake and eat it to?" You want to make citizen money? Become a citizen!

Anyone that lives in a city of any considerable size knows what Day Laborers are. They are the thousands of Illegal Immigrants (probably 99% Mexican) that just loiter around parking lots and streets looking for some illegal work for the day from some greedy contractor. Their employers ought to be boycotted for hiring illegal immigrants. I don't give two craps what they pay these guys, they are supporting illegal activities and just propagating the horrid immigration problems we have with Mexico.

In order to file this suit, the plaintiffs have to admit they are illegal aliens and are here illegally and broke the law themselves. So here is my response, kick them the heck outta this country. They admitted they are breaking the law so get them out! Enough is enough!

The CEO of Wal-Mart doesn't know who its independent contractors hire, nor should he. Why don't you prosecute the people that DO know what they are doing - all of these Construction, Landscaping, and other manual-labor whore mongers that hire these illegal aliens illegally. And then deport the alients! I mean, it is not hard to find the guilty parties. If you live in a big city, have you ever seen a construction site or landscaping crew that isn't full of Mexicans? It is all you will see in Atlanta, I assure you. It is time to crack down on this ridiculous problem. Shut down these contractors and deport illegal immigrants. You want to stay? Learn English, become a citizen, get a real job, and pay for your own @#$% taxes and healthcare!

Wow, a forum to present one side of a debate... good work! It seems to be the only way democrats can present their views. One guy on here actually says its the republicans who started calling them "Democrats" instead of "Democratics" to insult them, but of course there is no reference.

Ever wonder why there aren't any successful liberal radio talk show hosts like Boortz, Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity, etc? Because radio talk shows require debate, and liberals cant debate. For a group (progressive liberals) that typically believe there is no absolute truth (ie. against the Ten Commandments and other standards of moral code) which means there is no absolute right and wrong, they do a GREAT job of saying how wrong Bush and other Republicans are and how everything they do is so evil. So guys let me ask, what is evil? Who defines it? Feel free to reply in my comments section.

But don't take my word for it, the proof is in the pudding. The largest democratic forum doesn't allow free speech, yet they say they support Civil Liberties. Interesting.

I do have eyes...and those aren't them!

I work as a buyer at a large university bookstore. I'm in my mid twenties and even though I'm older than 95% of the students, since I look much younger than I am, I get hit on by students constantly. This morning I was walking from my office to the other side of the store and greeted a male student who was shopping. Before even saying hello, he looked me up and down TWICE - then said hello. And his eyes never traveled above my neck. I think he must be majoring in "How To Make a Woman Feel Like a Piece of Meat in 20 Seconds". I know woman check out men too, but we don't just stare at a man's crotch before saying "Hello". Even if I was attracted to the guy who checked me out so openly this morning, he would have no chance. Respect from a man is sexy. Being drooled over is not.

Finally, that is the business side of a Speer Gold Dot 230 gr. GDHP bullet. I know none of you know what any of that means, but oh well.... This is my baby. My favorite child.
